Barrow

Barrow

Barrow is a picturesque village set within the heart of the stunning Suffolk countryside. It has all the local amenities you could need, from shops and a post office to a doctors surgery and (most importantly) two traditional pubs – The Three Horseshoes and The Weeping Willow.

View Of The Suffolk Countryside

Just a few miles away is Bury St Edmunds, an historic market town that boasts the magnificent St Edmundsbury Cathedral, a flurry of high street boutiques, a weekly outdoor market and a Waitrose and Sainsbury’s.

If you’re dining out, sample the menus of many a delightful restaurant, bistro and gastropub. And if you’re still stuck for culinary choice, six miles to the north of Barrow, Tuddenham Mill provides spectacular, locally sourced food while to the east in Moulton, the Packhorse Inn offers a five-star AA dining experience.

If you’re hankering for high-brow culture, the grounds of Ickworth House, a Georgian Italianate palace, are only a 12-minute drive away. Or, on the opposite end of the scale, get the adrenaline pumping at The Playground in Barrow, a 1km-long assault course.

Barrow offers many schooling opportunities, from the Ofsted ‘outstanding’-rated Barrow CEVC Primary School to the King Edward VI School in Bury St Edmunds. For further education, West Suffolk College provides a comprehensive range of both academic and vocational courses.

Barrow’s fantastic connections means Newmarket is just 16 minutes in the car – with Cambridge just another 30 minutes further. Rail links from Bury St Edmunds offer regular services to Ipswich and Cambridge, while London Liverpool Street can be reached in under 90 minutes from Stowmarket railway station.
