A new homes development in Southwold, Suffolk, has won one of the UK’s most highly regarded design accolades. Hopkins Homes’ scheme, Tibby’s Triangle, was designed by London-based Ash Sakula Architects and was a Project Winner at the 2008 Housing Design Awards. James Hopkins, Executive Chairman, Hopkins Homes, comments: “Our objective was to create a unique development that would bring something special and different to the Southwold housing market, yet something that wouldn’t look out of place with its surroundings. The architects at Ash Sakula have designed an elegant scheme which we are extremely proud of. The development is proving very popular with purchasers despite the tough market.” Judges commented that Tibby’s Triangle is “an invigorating addition to a historic town: a distinctive, traditional and satisfying brew which is a fitting tribute to the former occupants of the site.” The Housing Design Awards recognise the very best in housing design and projects are judged on a range of factors including ‘relationship to surroundings and neighbourhood’, ‘external appearance and internal planning’ and ‘sustainability in construction’. Tibby’s Triangle, located off Victoria Street, in Southwold town centre, comprises a selection of highly contemporary one, two, three, four and five bedroom apartments and houses. Externally, the properties feature pale pink, white and black painted brickwork, and pantile roofs. The development is set to become a visually striking addition to Southwold’s traditional streetscapes. Properties combine angular lines and varied roof elevations and incorporate balconies, terraces and roof terraces. Internally, the properties feature open plan kitchen / dining rooms that are flooded with light from large windows. Interiors have been finished to the high specification synonymous with Hopkins Homes. Fully fitted kitchens include Neff built in ovens and granite work tops and bathrooms are fitted with smart white bathroom suites with chrome fixtures and fittings. Most properties have private outdoor space in the form of decked terraces, balconies or roof terraces, as well as off-street parking. Southwold is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the Suffolk Heritage coast, approximately 23 miles from Aldeburgh, 33 miles approximately from Norwich and approximately 35 miles from Ipswich. The pretty town has a wide variety of boutique and high street shops, bars, cafes and restaurants. Prices at Tibby’s Triangle are available on application only. First completions are due in late autumn 2008.
