Hopkins Homes donates to community group keeping Saxmundham litter free.

Hopkins Homes has donated a number of high visibility jackets to a community litter picking group to support their efforts to keep Saxmundham clean and litter-free.

The Saxmundham and District Litter Pickers group, which currently has a dedicated team of more than 20 volunteers, received a welcome boost with the generous donation as they plan their clear up events for the months ahead.

The group is also working in collaboration with Saxmundham Town Council and the IP17 Volunteer Group to hold a litter picking event during the school summer holidays where the 20 new jackets will get their first proper outing.

Last year, Hopkins Homes launched its latest phase of homes at its Priors’ Grange development in Saxmundham and is proud to support the areas where it builds communities.

Lee Barnard, Group Managing Director at Hopkins Homes, said: “We are very pleased to support the Saxmundham and District Litter Pickers group who do such vital work keeping one of Suffolk’s finest and most beautiful areas clean and litter free.

“Due to the pandemic, we all know more than ever just how important outside green space is, and that it’s appreciated by all ages. Therefore, we need to care for these spaces and together if we all take a small action and properly dispose of our litter, we can make a big difference.”

Geraldine Barker, Volunteer at the Saxmundham and District Litter Pickers group, said: “We are so thrilled with this kind donation. It’s great to know that we have support from local businesses who share our commitment and passion for protecting our local environments. Thanks to Hopkins Homes, our volunteers will be safer, more visible, and protected when they litter pick.”

The group has also been supported by Benhall Parish Council and Saxmundham Town Council with the donation of a number of litter picking sticks.
