Meet the Builder: Getting to Know Your Site Manager
You’ve had your reservation meeting followed by choosing your options and extras. The next stage in your new build journey is to meet the site manager.
The “Meet the Builder” appointment is the opportunity for our customers to meet the person responsible for making their new home happen. A Hopkins Homes site manager oversees the day-to-day running of the development, making sure that our properties are built on time, on budget and to our exacting standards. They’re a key person to get to know.
Our customers always find this meeting reassuring. It’s a great chance to learn about the development as a whole as well as seeing the progress on their own purchase.
Here’s what to expect
Where do I come for the meeting?
The meeting starts at the site office, where you’ll be welcomed by your sales executive. Because the meeting will soon move into the site itself, they’ll brief you about site safety and give you the right personal protective equipment (PPE) to wear.
Safety first
Safety always comes first on a building site, and that includes your Meet the Builder meeting. Before you go onto the development, you’ll need to wear a hard hat, a hi-vis vest and steel-toe-capped boots. We’ll do our best to find a comfortable fit! If you have your own hat or boots that meet the regulations, feel free to bring them with you. Dress code: suitable for a (possibly muddy) building site.
Who will be at the meeting?
You and your sales consultant will be joined by the site manager at the sales office. After introductions, there’ll be a quick run-through of the meeting agenda.
What’s on the agenda?
These meetings always need to be tailored to the build stage; however, they typically include:
- Viewing the plot: you’ll visit your own build to see how things are progressing.
- Viewing the area: the site manager will take you through the development: its layout, roads, green spaces and wider surroundings
- Reviewing drawings: this meeting is a great opportunity to look through the technical drawings, plans and layouts with the site manager. If you’ve been wondering about anything on the drawings, make a note of your questions and bring them to the meeting
What are the benefits of the meeting?
Our customers find this a very positive and helpful meeting because they come away with a clearer picture of their new home’s progress. They have the chance to ask questions directly to the site manager, which gives them an insight into the whole development as well as their own property. It also gives buyers a better idea of the build’s timelines.
As well as the practical information, buyers feel more confident after speaking with the site manager. This meeting is an opportunity to put a face to a name and to start building a rapport with the manager – they’ll be an important part of the handover and snagging processes.
How do I arrange our site manager meeting?
After your Options & Extras meeting, we’ll arrange a site manager meeting for you. If you’re able to, please take this opportunity to meet the expert who’s leading the build, and we hope it’s the start of a positive relationship.
At Hopkins Homes, our team is committed to building you a quality home. The site manager is at the heart of everything that happens in the development, and they’ll be able to answer your questions and keep you updated.
You’ll see the site manager again at the “home demonstration” meeting just before completion – exciting!
