NHBC award-winning quality at Loddon Rise: what does it mean for you?

Buying a new home is a significant decision. You can explore the layout, consider the specification and picture how you might use each room, but much of what determines the lasting quality of your home is less easy to see.

That is why independent recognition matters.

Led by site manager Martin Boyce, the team at Loddon Rise in Loddon has received a 2026 NHBC Pride in the Job Quality Award. It is a considerable achievement for the team, but what does it mean for someone considering buying a home here?

What is an NHBC Pride in the Job Award?

The Pride in the Job Awards are run by the National House Building Council and have recognised excellence in housebuilding for more than 40 years.

Every site manager responsible for a qualifying development registered for NHBC Buildmark is automatically entered. There is no application form through which a housebuilder can simply submit its best work.

Instead, the competition follows an 18-month cycle, with site managers assessed through unannounced visits and detailed inspections of their day-to-day work.

In 2026, thousands of inspections were carried out across 7,500 developments. Only 449 site managers received a Quality Award, placing Martin and the Loddon Rise team within the top 6% of sites assessed nationally.

Quality that goes beyond what you can see

When you first visit a completed home, it is natural to notice the kitchen, bathrooms, flooring and finishing details. These are important, but the quality of a home begins much earlier.

The NHBC assessment examines work throughout the construction process, including:

  • Foundations, substructure and drainage
  • The structural frame, external walls and roof
  • Insulation, ventilation, soundproofing and fire stopping
  • Plumbing, electrical work and internal joinery
  • Internal and external finishes
  • Landscaping and external works
  • Quality-control procedures and the protection of work in progress

The judging therefore considers many of the elements that will eventually be hidden behind walls, beneath floors or above ceilings, as well as the details you will see and use every day.

For a purchaser, this provides additional reassurance that the focus on quality extends throughout the construction of the home, not simply to its appearance when it is ready to view.

More than meeting the required standard

A Pride in the Job Quality Award does not recognise a site for simply meeting the required standards.

NHBC uses a detailed marking system covering 38 different areas of construction and site management. Its marking guidance explains that compliance with NHBC Standards and Building Regulations represents the baseline. Higher marks are awarded where the quality and accuracy of the work go beyond what would be expected on an average site.

Judges also look for consistency across different homes. That distinction is important: the award is not based on one carefully prepared show home or a single plot. It recognises the standards being managed across the wider development.

Strong leadership behind your home

A new home is built by many skilled people, from groundworkers and bricklayers to carpenters, electricians, plumbers and decorators. The site manager is responsible for bringing all those people and stages together.

NHBC describes the calibre of the site manager as having the greatest influence on the quality of a completed home. Its judges consider leadership, technical knowledge, attention to detail, interpretation of drawings and specifications, health and safety, and the systems used to check work throughout the build.

A well-managed site helps ensure that:

  • Trades understand the standards expected of them
  • Work is checked at the appropriate stages
  • Materials are stored and protected correctly
  • Completed work is looked after while other trades continue
  • Potential issues are identified and addressed promptly
  • Quality is maintained as the development progresses

Although the award is presented to Martin as the person with overall responsibility for quality at Loddon Rise, it also reflects the work of the wider team, tradespeople, suppliers and partners who contribute to every home.

Attention to the finishing details

The NHBC assessment does not stop once the main structure has been completed. Judges also consider the quality of internal finishes, flooring, joinery, plumbing and electrical installations.

That includes details such as the alignment of sockets and switches, the fitting of doors, skirting boards and architraves, the finish of paintwork and tiling, and the care taken to protect floors and completed surfaces.

These may seem like small details, but together they influence how a new home looks, feels and performs from the moment its owner receives the keys.

What does the award mean for customer satisfaction?

No award replaces the individual checks completed on each home or the protection provided by its warranty. What it does offer is credible, independent evidence of the standards being set and managed on site.

NHBC says that Pride in the Job has helped raise construction quality and homeowner satisfaction by encouraging site managers and their teams to keep improving rather than accepting that a job is simply “good enough”.

For a Loddon Rise purchaser, that means knowing their home is being built on a development where the approach to quality has been independently examined and nationally recognised.

Every Hopkins home at Loddon Rise also comes with a 10-year NHBC Buildmark warranty, alongside support from our sales and customer-service teams throughout the buying journey and after moving day.

Don’t just take our word for it

The experiences of the people already living at Loddon Rise provide another important measure of the quality and care behind the development.

First-time buyer Michael found his perfect first home in an apartment at Loddon Rise, while Joanne became the development’s first resident after purchasing a three-bedroom home.

In Joanne’s story, she praised the support she received throughout the buying process and the approachable team she found after moving in. She described the whole experience as positive and said:

“Everyone in the sales office and on-site has been lovely and welcoming.”

Joanne also highlighted the quality of her finished home, its energy-efficient features and the reassurance of knowing that the site team, including Martin, remained available whenever she had a question or concern.

Together, Michael’s and Joanne’s experiences show that customer satisfaction is about more than the finished home. It comes from feeling supported throughout the purchase, having confidence in the quality of what is being built and knowing there are people available to help after moving day.

Reinforcing our commitment to quality

Martin was one of four Hopkins Homes site managers to receive a Pride in the Job Quality Award in 2026.

That wider recognition reinforces our commitment to building carefully, paying attention to the details that matter and creating homes our customers can feel proud to call their own.

At Loddon Rise, the award is more than a trophy. It represents the care, organisation and high standards behind the development—from the first foundations to the final finishing touches.
