Moving into my first home at Loddon Rise with confidence
For many young people today, the path to homeownership can feel like steep climb, often clouded by valid concerns about rising costs and an ever-changing market. Today, first-time buyers are facing a landscape that requires not just significant savings, but also a fair amount of guidance to navigate.
These days, it’s not uncommon for people to be living at home or renting well into the thirties. A process that may have felt easier for previous generations needs the right support in place to buy a home with confidence. That was certainly the case for Joanne, our very first resident at Loddon Rise who was eager to change the reality.
When Joanne came to us looking for a fresh start in a community she already loved, she found that having an expert team by her side turned an overwhelming experience into an exciting milestone. For her, turning 30 felt like the right moment to fly the nest and secure a place of her own.
From her initial enquiry to unlocking the door to her own home, her story is one of resilience, reward, and finally setting down roots.
From nervous first-time buyer to proud homeowner
After years of saving, Joanne knew it was time to start a new chapter. But, as a first-time buyer, she felt apprehensive about what was written on her next page, wondering how to take the first step. “I was nervous about the process and felt like I might not understand things or know what I’m doing,” Joanne explains.
This uncertainty is why Joanne chose to buy with Hopkins Homes. She was looking for a homebuilder she could trust to guide her through the process, with the reassurance of friendly, reliable support at every stage: “Having a friendly team to rely on was a defining part of my decision and I can’t thank Hopkins Homes enough for their support.”
Joanne described the team’s involvement as the key to a stress-free experience. “They guided me throughout the entire process and really took the pressure off what can be an overwhelming experience.” This level of attentiveness remained a constant, even after moving in. Joanne has found the transition into her new life at Loddon Rise smoothed by a dedicated team that makes her peace of mind a priority.
“Matt is always at the other end of the phone if I have any questions, while Evans and Martin are the most approachable site managers. They are always reassuring whenever I have any concerns,” Joanne adds.
How a 5% deposit helped secure a bigger home
Initially, Joanne had only considered a 2-bedroom house, assuming her budget wouldn’t stretch to anything bigger. However, with the support of a mortgage advisor and the benefit of the 5% deposit contribution, she discovered she could reach further than she imagined.
“With the help Hopkins Homes, I was able to go beyond what I thought I could,” Joanne shares. “I’m now the proud owner of a 3-bed house, which I can grow into for years to come.”
New build over a second-hand property
The choice between an established property and a new-build often comes down to peace of mind. For Joanne, it was about having quality and efficiency at her fingertips in a move-in ready space. “Knowing that the day I moved in I would have flooring, a finished garden, and built-in appliances was extremely appealing – and took away a lot of stress.
“I didn’t have to worry about scrambling for extra funds or managing tradespeople to furnish my new home. Hopkins Homes has such high standards, and it’s a relief knowing the materials and services provided are of such good quality.”
The finished garden was a particular highlight: “Turfing the garden was a welcomed bonus. I’m not very green-fingered but having a big but manageable lawn is great.”
Beyond the brand-new finishes and fully turfed garden, energy efficiency was also a major draw. “I would never have been able to get this level of quality in second-hand property. The heat pump, insulation, EV charger, and energy-efficient appliances are a huge benefit for my long-term peace of mind.”
But, the real joy is found in the daily lifestyle her new home offers: “I absolutely love my kitchen diner,” she says, describing the heart of her home. “It’s such a spacious, inviting area, and I look forward to waking up and seeing light pouring in through the French doors. They open up onto the garden and make the whole room feel so airy. I can’t wait to spend many summers and evenings out there, enjoying my own garden escape.”
The perfect location in Loddon
Having lived in Loddon her whole life, staying local and close to family was a priority. “I went to the local schools and my close family are near to the area, so it was important for me to have them close by,” Joanne explains.
“I work in Norwich city centre, so being in Loddon gives me that lovely, relaxed town and countryside environment while keeping my daily commute to the city easy.
Looking ahead, she is already picturing how her daily routine will evolve at Loddon Rise. “I’d like to get a dog once I’m settled,” Joanne says. “I can already imagine us heading out for strolls through the new woodland walkways, making the most of the green space right on our doorstep. I’m excited to see the development grow; it’s going to be lovely to see the neighbourhood come to life as more families move in and a sense of community builds up around us.”
A milestone to remember
As the first person to complete on a home at the new development, Joanne feels rightly proud. “It does feel special to be the first,” she says. “I don’t feel alone on the development because of the Hopkins team. “I’m really looking forward to creating my first home and putting my stamp on it. It’s a chance to make new memories and begin this exciting new part of my life.”
Looking back, receiving the keys to her home has been a definitive highlight of her thirties – and a rewarding end to her search for the right property. “The whole experience has been positive. Everyone in the sales office and on-site has been lovely and welcoming,” Joanne concludes.
“I would whole-heartedly recommend Loddon Rise, and Hopkins Homes to anyone. My favourite moment has to be completion day, when I got to open the front door and know this amazing home was finally mine.”
