How to Bring a Seasonal Touch to Your Home This Halloween

A few well-chosen details can bring a seasonal touch to your home. Sculptural branches, softly painted pumpkins and natural textures add character while sitting comfortably alongside your existing interiors.

Create a striking branch arrangement

You’ll need: A tall vase, a few bare branches, narrow ribbon and lightweight decorations.

Choose branches with an interesting shape and arrange them in the vase. Tie a few lengths of ribbon to the branches, or hang a small number of lightweight decorations from them. Display the arrangement on a sideboard or console where it has room to stand out.

Paint mini pumpkins in soft autumn colours

You’ll need: Mini pumpkins, craft paint and a fine paintbrush.

Choose two or three colours, such as cream, deep green and charcoal. Paint each pumpkin in a single shade and leave it to dry. Add a fine line or simple pattern for a finishing detail, then arrange the pumpkins together on a tray or dining table.

Set a considered Halloween table

You’ll need: Card, a fine pen, narrow ribbon and autumn leaves.

Cut the card into place cards and write each guest’s name on one. Tie a small length of ribbon around each card and tuck in an autumn leaf. Set one at each place, then complete the table with a few seasonal details.

Use a pumpkin as a seasonal vase

You’ll need: A medium sized pumpkin, a small glass jar that fits inside and seasonal flowers or stems.

Carefully cut an opening in the top of the pumpkin and remove the seeds. Place the jar inside, add water and arrange the flowers or stems. Display it on a dining table or sideboard for a natural seasonal centrepiece.
