Creating a Space to Enjoy
Your garden is an extension of your home and, with a little ongoing care, will quickly become a space to relax and enjoy.
Lawns & Landscaping
All lawns and landscaped areas are prepared in accordance with NHBC guidelines and are maintained up to the point of legal completion by Hopkins Homes. From completion onwards, general upkeep becomes the homeowner’s responsibility.
We recommend turfing your garden as soon as possible after moving in. Grass provides a natural, permeable surface that helps water drain effectively and reduces surface pooling.
If you decide to landscape or pave your garden, ensure suitable drainage is incorporated to prevent water build-up.
As your garden settles, some natural compaction of soil may occur, particularly during periods of heavy rain. Regular care, aeration and planting will help maintain healthy ground conditions.
Fencing
Timber fencing is a natural product and will weather and change appearance over time. This may include slight movement, colour variation or surface cracking, all of which are normal characteristics of timber.
Fencing is covered under warranty for product defects and installation issues only. Natural ageing and weathering are not covered.
Gutters & External Joinery
Routine maintenance is essential to protect your home’s exterior.
We recommend:
- Clearing gutters at least once a year
- Cleaning windows and external joinery every six months
- Inspecting painted or stained timber annually and touching up where necessary
Regular care will preserve the appearance of your home and help prevent avoidable issues in the future.
Winter Care
To protect your external tap during colder months, please isolate the water supply using the internal shut-off valve, typically located beneath your kitchen or utility sink. Leaving the outside tap open once isolated will help prevent frost damage.
