At Hopkins Homes, sustainability and social responsibility are at the heart of what we do. We are dedicated to a greener future and are committed to finding new ways to build more sustainably.
Reducing our carbon emissions
At Hopkins Homes, we are committed to cutting both operational carbon and embodied carbon across our homes.
Operational carbon refers to the emissions produced when running a home — heating, cooling, lighting and powering appliances. We are reducing these emissions through enhanced building performance, including high levels of insulation, airtight construction, thermally efficient windows, and the integration of renewable technologies like solar PV systems.
Embodied carbon covers the emissions associated with the materials and construction process itself. By increasing our use of timber frame construction and reducing reliance on carbon-intensive materials such as concrete, we are lowering the environmental impact of building our homes from the ground up.
By addressing both operational and embodied carbon, we are creating homes that are not only more sustainable to live in, but also greener to build — helping you and the planet for years to come.
First UK housebuilder to offer 10-year Zero-Energy Bills
In a landmark step for the industry, Hopkins Homes became the first UK housebuilder to introduce a 10-year Zero Energy Bills guarantee in-conjunction with Octopus Energy. Selected homes at our Church View development in Bramford were powered by Octopus Energy’s Zero Bills™ tariff — an innovative smart energy solution designed to offer comfortable living with no energy bills.
To make this possible, we added a combination of green tech devices to a selection of our homes comprising PV panels, battery storage, a wastewater heat recovery system, blown cavity wall insulation, air source heat pump, underfloor heating, thermally insulated uPVC windows and LED downlights to some rooms.
