How we build comfort into your home at Beaulieu

At Hopkins Homes at Beaulieu, the comfort of your home starts with the way it is built. Our homes combine timber-frame construction, a fabric-first approach and a Vaillant aroTHERM air source heat pump, with underfloor heating on the ground floor.

Together, these features help limit heat loss and provide warmth for everyday life. Here is how they work, and what they mean when you move in.

The structure behind your home

Timber-frame construction uses an engineered timber structure to support the floors and roof of a home. The frame sits within the wall construction, with insulation and protective layers forming part of the overall design.

Outside, brickwork and architectural detailing give our Beaulieu homes their familiar character. Inside the walls, the timber frame provides the supporting structure.

The benefit comes from considering the complete wall design: the frame, insulation, weather protection and internal finish all have a role. Timber-frame construction allows these elements to be planned together from the outset.

Keeping warmth where you want it

A fabric-first approach means paying attention to the parts of the home that separate indoors from outdoors, including the walls, roof, floors, windows and doors.

Insulation helps slow the movement of heat out of your home. Airtightness helps control unwanted air leakage through gaps in the building fabric. Together, they help reduce the amount of heat the heating system needs to replace.

Ventilation also matters. It provides fresh air and helps manage moisture, so following the ventilation guidance for your home is part of keeping it comfortable.

For you, this means the heating is supported by the design of the home around it.

How an air source heat pump works

Our Beaulieu homes include a Vaillant aroTHERM air source heat pump.

It uses electricity to collect heat from the air outside and raise its temperature for use in your heating and hot water system. Because it transfers heat, a heat pump can deliver more heat energy than the electrical energy used to run it.

That makes it an efficient way to provide warmth. Its performance also depends on how the system is designed, the temperatures it operates at and how it is used.

Why we pair it with underfloor heating

Underfloor heating is included on the ground floor of our homes at Beaulieu.

Warm water circulates through pipes beneath the floor, spreading heat across a large surface area. This makes underfloor heating a good partner for a heat pump, which can work efficiently at lower heating-water temperatures.

For everyday life, that means warmth distributed across the room and more wall space available for furniture. You can plan where to place a sideboard, desk or favourite chair with greater freedom.

Your everyday questions answered

Getting to know your new home

Before you move in, your home demonstration gives you the chance to explore how your home works with your Sales Executive and Site Manager.

You can ask about the heating controls, hot water settings, ventilation and routine care. We also have home demonstration videos you can revisit as you settle in, including guidance on air source heat pumps.

Ongoing care is straightforward to plan for. Vaillant recommends an annual service by a qualified engineer. Follow the instructions supplied with your system and keep the area around the outdoor unit clear so air can flow freely.
