Ansells Way is positioned within a quiet turning off of Mill Road facing the beautiful setting of Coltishall Common, through which flows the River Bure as it passes the old Mill Race, all that now remains of the water mill that gave the road its name. Adjacent to the remains of the mill is the old Coltishall Lock marking the extent of waters navigable from Norfolk Broads and
the coast beyond.
Horstead itself sits alongside the attractive village of Coltishall separated only by the River Bure which just a few minutes down the road widens into the Norfolk broads, providing boating enjoyment to the many who visit the Broads each year. And less than four miles away is Wroxham, the renowned centre of the broads, home of the Bure Valley Railway, a narrow gauge railway that runs the 9 miles from Aylsham to Wroxham, and a small yet bustling shopping centre.
