Bocking village forms the northern suburb of Braintree. This area dates back over 4,000 years, when the Romans invaded they built a small village at the junction of two roads; the site of the Roman camp being apparent close to the town and a great number of Roman coins and other antiques have been found in its immediate neighbourhood. Bocking has a great rural village feel with an interesting array of shops and historic buildings, lying in the north of Essex within easy reach of London and the major towns of Essex, Chelmsford and Colchester. Braintree lies to the south of Bocking alongside the ancient Roman Stone Street which has become the A120 road to Colchester. Both Bocking and Braintree are now mostly known under the unbrella title of 'Braintree'
Having all these amenities close by makes Bocking a very desirable and sought after place to live, enjoying as it does the best of both worlds.
