You can be in the centre of Norwich in around 20 minutes on foot, or just six in the car. This bustling city has something for everyone to enjoy, from history at its castle and cathedral to culture at its Playhouse and Theatre Royal.
There are lots of opportunities to shop until you drop in Norwich, with the Chapelfield shopping mall offering a range of stores including House of Fraser, Superdry, Zara and Hollister. The city features plenty of independent shops too; take a trip to Norwich Lanes where you’ll find everything from antiques to natural cosmetics. And that’s not all – the city’s famous market is open throughout the week, with some stalls having been run by the same families for several generations.
When you need a break from all that shopping, you can enjoy a relaxing cup of coffee in one of the city’s many cafés, with well-known chains on offer plus a number of independent venues.
There is also a plethora of places to wine and dine, whether you’re after a quick bite or are celebrating a special occasion. Amongst them are The Library, a Grade II listed building, and Roger Hickman’s, which boasts no fewer than three AA rosettes. You can enjoy a hearty pint of real ale in traditional pubs such as The Fat Cat or the Kings Head, or head to the upmarket Revolucion de Cuba if you’re in the mood for a cocktail or two.
