One of Hopkins Homes' greatest strengths is its open minded approach to each
individual project. Because the company does not adhere to standard house types,
it is committed to working closely with local authorities, architects and
designers to provide tailor-made solutions to planning objectives. This doesn't
always mean maximising density, but involves creating the best environment for
any particular setting, while conserving its historic integrity.
Given the company's East Anglian roots, Hopkins places great emphasis on
creating new homes which reflect the local vernacular, accented by key internal
and external design features.
Hopkins have worked closely with many Local Authorities in East Anglia to help
them meet their aspirations and needs, either as a result of a Local Plan
requirement or to assist in the regeneration of a run down area. Examples of our
active policy of working closely with Local Authorities can be seen at Drovers
Mead, Bury St Edmunds where as a result of winning an initial design lead
purchase offer Hopkins have successfully developed four parcels of residential
land owned and offered for sale by St Edmundsbury B.C. on the Moreton Hall Estate.
In Norwich we have worked with Norwich City Council to redevelop the site of the
former Norwich Brewery bounded by King Street and Rouen Road. Now being transformed
by Hopkins into the Kings Quarter area of Norwich, this development has helped kick
start a massive regeneration of the whole King Street / Riverside area, bring life
back into the city.
At Ely in Cambridgeshire, Hopkins Homes were selected by the East Cambridgeshire
District Council as their selected developer for a residential development site
owned by the local authority between Broad Street and the riverside. This
development subsequently received a CABE "Building for life" award.
In Thorpe, Norwich Hopkins won the first ever Design Award for excellence judged
and awarded by Broadland District Council.
Working with a number of leading architects practices, both regional and national,
Hopkins have won a number of prestigious awards for design including The Daily
Telegraph award for Best House Design. These architects work alongside Hopkins'
in-house design team to ensure that the design and style of our final product is
perfect for the chosen location.
Because of Hopkins flexible approach to our land purchase, we are able to work
closely with landowners and their advisers to ensure that each purchase is
structured to suit the individual land seller's needs. Our design team have been
able in certain circumstances to incorporate land seller's particular requirements
in our final design for the land that they have sold to us.
