A Tradition of Excellence

One of Hopkins Homes' greatest strengths is its open minded approach to each individual project. Because the company doesn't build standard house types, it is committed to working closely with local authorities and specialist architectural designers to provide tailor-made solutions to planning objectives. This doesn't always mean maximising density, but involves creating the best environment for any particular setting, while conserving its historic integrity.

Given the company's Suffolk roots, Hopkins places great emphasis on creating new homes which reflect the local vernacular, accented by key internal and external design features.

Aldeburgh, Suffolk
Located off the main road into this historic, internationally renowned seaside town, this was one of Hopkins Homes earliest and most sensitive development challenges. Working architects Fielden of Kelvedon, the company created an award winning scheme of 60 two, three and four bedroom houses of such a high standard that Suffolk Coastal District Council used a terrace of cottages as the frontispiece for its planning application forms. Winner of the What House? Silver Award for Best Development 1996.

Old Thorpe Mews
A former industrial site behind a neglected Grade-II listed house, which is also a much loved landmark in a conservation area. Hopkins Homes restored the original house into a single residence and created an additional mews court of 15 two, three and four bedroom town houses. Winner of the Broadland District Council's Design Award for Excellence in 1998.
